So if you’re heading down south, be sure to pack your appetite and plan your trip accordingly. Here are a few of the top food fests in MS:
1. Coliseum Crawfish Music Festival
Over 20 years old, the annual Coliseum Crawfish Music Festival boasts a crawfish cook-off, talented live music, and plenty of cold beverages. What more could you ask for on an April afternoon? The festival is hosted at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi in mid April.

2. Biloxi Seafood Festival
Later in the year, Biloxi visitors are invited to beat the heat with the Biloxi Seafood Festival. For over three decades, this beloved festival has filled the bellies of Biloxi residents with fresh seafood, endless bowls of gumbo, and more, while offering even more live entertainment and kids’ activities. Check it out in September.
3. Mississippi State Fair
As fall approaches, Jackson is getting geared up for the annual Mississippi State Fair: one of the state’s oldest festivals. Each year, over 600,000 festival attendees flock to the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson, where a host of fair food and fun await.
4. St. Ann’s Catfish Festival

Looking for some seafood? Head to Gulfport this May, as the city boasts some of the best catches of the day bar none during their St. Ann’s Catfish Festival. Perhaps you’ll want the kids to wait a few minutes before hitting the carnival rides and other kids’ games, though.
For the music lovers, Riverfest in Vicksburg is a two-day outdoor festival featuring tons of great artists, a huge craft fair, and, of course, an endless supply of colorful food trucks, pop-up food tents, and more, all offering tasty fried festival favorites. Riverfest is held in mid April in downtown V-burg.
6. Bright Lights, Belhaven Nights
Over in Jackson, the Bright Lights, Belhaven Nights street festival treats festivalgoers to an evening of live music, fun for the kids, and enough tasty grub to satisfy even the most picky of eaters.
7. Natchez Food & Wine Festival
Head on down to Natchez this summer, as the beloved Natchez Food and Wine Festival is set to hit the streets this July. Since 2000, the city’s best breweries, most celebrated chefs, and finest wineries have been putting their greatest recipes and creations on display for three days.
8. Market Street Festival
Nearly two decades old, the Market Street Festival floods the streets of Columbus with food for two straight days. Hit the festival this May, and enjoy everything from kettle corn and pork skins, to pizza and desserts.
9. Grilling on the Green
The gulf coast gets their grill on this spring, as the city of Biloxi hosts the annual Grillin on the Green BBQ festival. Be sure to grab a basket of grilled oysters, and don’t miss your chance to eat some of the best BBQ ribs this side of the Mississippi.
