Fun at Natchez Lake
Central Mississippi Parks, Refuges & Forests
Natchez State Park
Set in central Mississippi, Natchez State Park is located just east of Natchez along U.S. Highway 61. Host to annual events like the Spring and Fall Pilgrimage, and the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race, Natchez State Park is a Mississippi playground with plenty to do.
Open throughout the year, Natchez State Park features everything from fishing and auto touring, to hiking and hunting.
Fishing is the most popular activity in the park, as an 18-pound largemouth bass was reeled in from Natchez Lake in 1992. The park also offers wildlife viewing, boating, disc golf, and plenty of picnic spots.
Just 10 miles southwest of the park is the historic city of Natchez, yet another Mississippi hotspot for the outdoor enthusiast. For on-your-feet-fun, try a Downtown Natchez Walking Tour, or a trek down the Natchez Trace Parkway. Let the kids run wild at Bluff Park, or take in more nature viewing at the nearby St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
Bikes are welcome on the Natchez Trace Parkway, the Natchez city trail system, and at Duncan Park, and the Homochitto National Forest – found just east of town.
